Vacation Request – Reason: Will be busy playing HALO with Family
You may recall from an old blog post that some of my co-workers found it hilarious that I would go to Comic-con and cut out a newspaper clipping of the Con for me to see when I got back to work after the trip.
About a month ago, one of those co-workers was talking to me about Halo and how he can’t wait to play and maybe just maybe he will take a vacation day off to spend quality time with the game.
Before making a decision to send in his Vacation Request form, he asked our HR friends what would be more ‘nerdy’, taking days off for a convention or taking days off to play a video game. We didn’t reveal who went on the trip (although one of them already knew) or who wanted to play the video game. They thought about it and laughed saying it was a tough choice.
Anyway, after that conversation I was guessing my co-worker submitted his vacation request form and that was that.
Fast forward to this afternoon, he reminded me that Halo 3 launch was tonite and he’d be swinging by any video game store on his way home to grab a copy. He also mentioned that his eyes would most likely be bloodshot tomorrow morning. To which I replied, but I thought you took some days off?? He told me that HR rejected his request!!! Too bad for him, I guess I’ll be seeing him tomorrow and he can tell me all about all the newbs he fragged.
