SE Asia Trip 2012 – We sure love the Thai Pancakes (Rotee) and Sunsets

After our visit to Rai Leh East and West the previous day we decided to move over to stay on that island. The beach, sunsets and those Thai pancakes…it was hard to resist.

We had lunch at a cafe, and took the long tail boat over to Rai Leh West.

We walked over to Rai Leh East and after asking a few places we found some accommodations at Diamond Cave resort. He was going to charge us 2000 baht but we said we were promised 1500 for a bungalow. He let us have the room for 1500 baht.

Pretty decent room w/ AC, fridge, bottled water, hot showers and a balcony

We met up with my cousin at her place the Railay Bay resort and hung out at the pool for a bit planning what else to do on the island.

The guys got hungry so we had lunch/early dinner at the hotel restaurant. It was overpriced and we all agreed we were paying for the view.

This cute cat ate rice bits of rice that fell on the floor.

Rested in our rooms until Muay Thai at 10ish (it started late, but then again nothing’s on time here).

We had great ringside seats for the Muay Thai. Even if it was an exhibition fight, it was exciting! Whenever the fighters got stuck on the ropes the girls in the front row got scared they’d get hit. Hahaha…

After the Muay Thai there was a fire show at last bar. They spun ropes and sticks to techno music while the crowd cheered them on.

At one point they had 7 fire spinners (including the apprentices)on stage at the same time. Accident waiting to happen?

Well, actually yes, because whenthey were twirling the sticks, one of them flew and landed on a girl sitting in the front. As soon as the stick flew they scurried away, breaking some glasses. Think she was ok, but I’d never sit that close on the ground especially during a show like that!

Notes:
- the bar kept repeating the songs fr its short playlist which included one with lyrics ‘you don’t add me to Facebook, get ready to die’ or something like that. haha wtf!

- Rai Leh East had the nightlife and was much cheaper in terms of food and accommodations so we stayed there

- One of the Muay Thai fighters came to Last Bar to dance after the fight, which we thought was hilarious

- One of the fire spinners was a 16 yr old boy!!

- I agreed with my cousin when she said it was funny how she felt overwhelmed by white people in Asia

Diet Coke but no ginger ale! I miss ginger ale
